Master’s alumnus takes to the airwaves with his start-up

Andrew, an alumnus of the MEnt Master of Enterprise course 2012, has developed the UK’s market-leading online car repair platform that allows drivers to get real-time quick online quotes and book pre-vetted car mechanics.

Having initially identified the problem of finding trustworthy car mechanics, Andrew decided to exploit this opportunity by studying enterprise and entrepreneurship at the Masood Enterprise Centre at Alliance MBS. Andrew feels his education in Manchester was pivotal in his start-up’s success:

“Without attending Alliance MBS I certainly would have not had the tools and foundation to be able to build ClickMechanic into what it is today. My master’s degree showed me models and approaches to address problems and find opportunities, as well as giving me the confidence to really pursue my vision for ClickMechanic.”

Andrew started ClickMechanic with his business partner, Felix Kenton, with little more than a £100 advertising voucher. ClickMechanic has since grown rapidly due to its lean methodology and ability to attract funding from prominent investors such as Forward Partners, Entrepreneur First and the former CEO of JustEat.

Jonathan Styles, Senior Lecturer in Enterprise is not surprised at Andrew’s success having supervised him whilst at the School: “Andy is a great example and role model for what an enterprising student can achieve if they are passionate about achieving their dreams!”
