The Manchester undergraduate experience
Manchester offers a unique student experience, giving you the opportunity to do more, to be more.
There is so much going on in the city and on campus - whether you’re into live music, networking, sports clubs or volunteering. Your challenge is to make the most of everything on offer.
What sets us apart?
Our motto - 'Original Thinking Applied'
The application of original thinking is at the heart of everything we do. Our courses will give you the knowledge and practical skills to succeed in real business situations.
We strongly encourage you to complete a work placement alongside your studies in order to apply the theory learned in the classroom – or to spend a year abroad to gain first-hand experience of another culture.
You can also gain exemptions from ACCA, CIMA and ICAEW, leading to a fast-track to chartered accountancy status.
Rankings - a leading global institution
We are ranked 7th in the UK and 30th in the world for Business & Management Studies and 5th in the UK and 21st in the world for Accounting & Finance (QS World University Rankings 2020). In terms of our research, we ranked 2nd in the UK for business research power in the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014).
A 'triple-crown' school
Less than 1% of business schools worldwide hold the rare gold standard of triple-crown accreditation from AACSB, AMBS and EQUIS – so you know that your business education is in good hands.
#1 most targeted university by employers
Our graduates have an unrivalled reputation with employers, which is why more graduate employers recruit directly from our campus than any other UK university (High Fliers Report 2020). Our courses achieved scores of up to 90% in the most recent DLHE survey (Destination of Leavers from Higher Education) – meaning you have the best possible chance of success after graduation.
We want to attract the most talented students regardless of their background. If you achieve AAA at A-level (or equivalent) and contribute to volunteering, charity work, fundraising or other community-based initiatives, we’d love you to apply for our social responsibility scholarships worth £2,000 per year.
Our city campus in central Manchester means you’re never far from the action. Live and study in one of the most dynamic and energetic student cities in the world. The city beat the likes of Birmingham, London and Liverpool to claim the top spot for the UK in The Economist’s ‘Global Livability Index’ for 2019. Manchester is the driving force of the Northern Powerhouse, a government-led programme of investment and development.
Manchester gives you so many opportunities to do more and be more. We call it Stellify. It’s about broadening your horizons, understanding the issues that matter, and stepping up to make a difference to the local and global community. Discover Stellify >>
