Masters offer holder FAQs

Answers to some frequently asked questions about accepting your offer and paying the deposit.

Frequently asked questions

When you have been made an offer, there are a few things that you need to do to accept your place. The final decision on your offer will be made by the Master's Admissions Office, who will contact you directly.

To accept your offer and secure your place, you need to pay the deposit on or before the deadline date stated in your offer letter.

You can make the deposit payment by selecting the ‘Paying Fees’ link in your offer letter. Once we have received the payment, we will manually update your record to accept your offer.

We ask for the deposit as competition for places is high and there is limited availability.  The deposit amount is then deducted from your tuition fees when you register on the course.

Please email pgadmissions.ambs@manchester.ac.uk with your request. Due to high competition for places, we are not able to guarantee an extension.

Please contact the Admissions team directly at pgadmissions.ambs@manchester.ac.uk for further assistance. Please ensure you quote your University of Manchester ID in your email.

The deposit is non-refundable, except in the following situations:

  • You fail to meet the conditions of your offer
  • You are refused a visa or entry clearance to enter the UK
  • Your application for government funding has been unsuccessful

Evidence must be provided before a refund will be processed under any of the circumstances above.

If your offer specifies an English Language condition that you do not meet, the Admissions Team will require the official certificate of an English Language test taken after the date of the offer as evidence that you have attempted to meet your offer conditions. The English language test certificate provided with your application documents is not accepted as proof that you have tried to meet your offer conditions as it will predate the offer.

If your offer specifies an academic condition, the Admissions Team will require official university documentation showing that you have not met the condition from the institution where you studied as evidence.

The Admissions Team reserves the right to refuse a refund of your deposit that does not meet the requirements outlined above.

Due to the demanding academic nature of all our programmes, we require all students to demonstrate academic progression. This is to ensure that students are fully prepared to successfully begin their postgraduate taught studies.

We expect you to consistently achieve good grades throughout each year of your studies and maintain a consistent level of academic performance. Particularly in your final year, we expect to see an improvement in your overall average. We would also expect you to perform well in all of your final-year modules.

If you achieve our minimum requirement overall but your final year grades fall slightly below your current average, the final decision made will be at the discretion of the Admissions Team. Or, if you achieve our minimum requirement overall but achieve low grades in some of your final year modules, then admittance onto the programme will be at the discretion of the Admissions Team. Further consideration may be required by an academic member of staff.

We can defer your offer, but you will first need to pay the deposit to secure the place. Only one deferral will be permitted.

Please email pgadmissions.ambs@manchester.ac.uk to request a deferral.  Please note that if you change your mind later in the year it may not be possible to reinstate your offer due to limited places on the course.

You can pay your fees upfront or in three instalments due in September, January and April. More details on how to pay your tuition fees will be available closer to the start date of the course. Please note that there is no discount for paying the full amount upfront.
