The fun is over and work starts piling up

We have reached November and I am almost growing a moustache, but not for charity reasons. November is that month when the fun is over and work starts piling up. The weather doesn’t really allow any outdoor activities, and I try to come up with any excuse to wear my comfy sweatpants wherever I go.

By this time last year, I remember enjoying my reading week the fullest; partying, relaxing and scrolling through some internship opportunities online. This year is nothing like it. Applying for graduate schemes can be time consuming, and it can easily become time wasting if a cover letter is not good enough and the application gets rejected at an early stage. The last few weeks have been quite stressful, considering that I also have coursework I had planned to start this week, and also my dissertation that I have had to put on hold for some time now. I did, however, manage to squeeze in some fun events earlier this month. Some of you may have spotted me during the open day. It was great to see so many people, and I hope it gave you some grounding for your choices. I also managed to put the books aside and consume some units of alcohol. Thumbs up.

The work is quite balanced at the moment. Late nights have been avoided and I try to get my work finished during daytime instead. Something I did mention to many of the visitors during the open day was that business students could make use of the business library, Precinct library. Since more courses start having deadlines, the Learning Commons has become the #1 hotspot for students, and for those who prefer more quiet areas with fewer distractions, Precinct is a great option. It also keeps students away from doing long hours, as they close at 8pm on weekdays and 6pm on weekends. Let’s see how long I can stick to this routine…
