8 days relaxing in the sun plus two very long train rides – That pretty much sums up my spring break. I went on a cruise to the Caribbean with two exchange students from England. Our vacation started with a 21 hour train ride to Miami where our cruise departed. Our cruise took us to the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, St. Thomas and Puerto Rico. In Turks & Caicos we participated in a guided Segway tour of the island and in Puerto Rico we explored Old San Juan and one of the forts of the island. I personally liked Puerto Rico the most because the island was not too overrun with tourists and Old San Juan had very pretty architecture influenced by the Spanish. In St. Thomas we went to Magen’s Bay, supposedly one of the prettiest beaches in the world. After all the deadlines right before spring break this was a much needed vacation and I enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere in the Caribbean a lot!
What I really like about the teaching at Kenan-Flagler Business School is that it is really hands-on. We talk about many case studies in different classes and when doing group projects or writing essays we can often choose the company we want to write about. For my Sustainable Business class I wrote a report about the sustainability strategy of Bayer and in my operations management group project we are researching the operations of a North Carolina based service company.
I am currently only enrolled in three modules because my Financial Reporting and Negotiations modules only lasted half the semester so the course-load is not as heavy at the moment which gives me more time to enjoy my last full month at UNC.
