November blog

It’s hard to believe that it’s already November. This semester has gone so quickly. For the last month, I have had a lot of deadlines approaching; for both job applications and my modules. So, it was nice to have Reading Week. I went home, back to Belfast. I caught up on my work and spent the rest of my time with my family and friends, it was a nice short break.

Final year has been as expected a lot of work but it’s also been so lovely, I’m trying to really make the most of my time left at Manchester as it will most likely be very different next year. I just got back from a weekend in Edinburgh with the AMBS International Programmes Society. Our committee members planned the whole thing so it was a lot of work to plan but we could finally enjoy the weekend. We were very busy for two days. We took a coach up to Edinburgh bright and early on Saturday morning and arrived in the pretty city by midday. From there we checked into the hostel, unpacked and then walked up Arthur’s Seat. Although it was absolutely freezing, it was a beautiful walk. We then grabbed some dinner, took some well-deserved downtime and then went on a bar crawl that night. On Sunday, we had a lovely breakfast, packed our bags and got ready for another busy day. We got a guided around Edinburgh, had some lunch and then visited Edinburgh Castle. The city is simply stunning and the perfect size for getting around. We then said our goodbyes and boarded the coach back to Manchester that evening. Everyone was exhausted but the trip was a great success.

Now back in Manchester, I have another few busy weeks ahead with some key deadlines approaching that I need to work on. I am looking forward to the AMBS Christmas ball. It’s always a really fun night and a nice break away from all the stress. For now, I am planning to just organise all my notes and work really hard on my modules to make the workload a little easier in December.

I was so nervous about moving my life to America for a year but from all I have experienced in this month, the fear, the stress and the immense change have definitely all been worth it!
