We’re done with classes for the year! It’s been a great 12 weeks in the University of Manchester and it felt like yesterday when I was holding my suitcase, making my way to my hall of residence for the first time. Now I’m sitting with the same suitcase opened in front of me, ready to return home for winter break.
The first highlight of December was the AMBS Masquerade ball on the 3rd of December at the Midland hotel. My classmates and I had an amazing time at the ball and it was great value for money for only 8 pounds! The 3 course meal, music and ambience was great and there was even a photo booth! It was a good opportunity to bond with each other and to meet some seniors and peers from other courses.
As Christmas is just around the corner, the accounting society had an Ice skating and Christmas Market social which was a well needed break from all the deadlines that were coming up for our course. The social was held at the Manchester Ice Rink near Spinningfields. We then walked to Albert Square for some Christmas shopping and some warm food. The Manchester Christmas Markets were so impressive with more than 300 stores at 10 different locations offering a range of international food, handmade gifts and christmas decorations. It really brings out the Christmas mood and now I can’t wait for Christmas!
The last week of classes were packed with course works, tests and presentations. The learning commons was the place to be for that week. Groups of us would be working on our group tasks together, discussing, preparing for our presentations while some of us will be working on our course work and studying for the upcoming test. I’m glad that it’s all over and everything went well for everyone.
Before everyone left for home, our hall of residence had a Christmas Dinner and it was a great way to get everyone together again before we part ways for the winter break. It felt like a great ending to a fruitful 12 weeks here. It’s time to say our goodbyes, especially for some of the exchange students there will only be here for a semester but I can’t wait for Christmas and the comfort of home! See you next year Manchester!
Till next time 🙂
