Yesterday we submitted our final project for the semester! And tomorrow I have my last lecture. My last lecture ever, actually. I’m already feeling a bit of nostalgia while reflecting back on the past two semesters but I’m looking forward to focusing on my dissertation and having fun over the summer.
Since last fall I have been a member of the Business School’s student run postgraduate society, the Horizon Society. The other students on the committee are amazing and it has been a wonderful experience working with them. We’ve all spent at least a few hours per week meeting to plan and organise the society events. The upcoming Summer Ball on 13 June will be the largest event and also the classiest event.
The process to finally organise the ball was time consuming and required a lot of commitment from everyone involved. Throughout the semester we visited different venues around the city, met with different photographers, managed the budget, looked for decorations and worked to promote the event around campus. Just last week we finished selling tickets and finalised the last minute details.
I’m proud of our accomplishments and I am excited for the event. It will be a great start of summer seeing our fellow classmates dressed up and having a wonderful night together. The ball will have an Oscars theme and will start with a red carpet entry and champagne reception. We will have a lovely three-course dinner and a few performances throughout the night. We will have two photographers and also a photo booth to help capture memories from the evening.
I clearly remember the first day of orientation at Alliance MBS. Two former students spoke to us about their experience in the programme the previous year. They both said how quickly the year would pass, how we would all be challenged in ways we could not imagine but they also said we make lifelong friends and create unforgettable memories. They were right about everything.
Time has passed very quickly this year. And now that summer is here, I will enjoy the long summer days. It’s been a challenging but rewarding experience so far and now I am looking forward to the dissertation, Summer Ball and other summer adventures.
