Masters Insights: Looking back and looking ahead

0

We are entering the last month of the MSc program and this is my final blog post. The past year was eventful and I was able to experience so many new things…
What are the moments that I will remember?
Sleepless nights in December when our venture group project report and presentation were due? Preparing for and taking exams in Harry Potter-like buildings in January and May? The ‘evil month of April’ when I thought I would be drowning in the workload? The course parties throughout the year or exploring Manchester and the UK? The sunny days I got to spend with friends in the park laughing and having a good time? Honestly, probably a mixture of all of these things. Especially the difficult times throughout the course make me laugh today and really felt like moments I was able to prove myself. The good times just made me fall in love with this place even more. I also believe that two of the best days of my time here in Manchester are still ahead of me: handing in my dissertation and graduation day! I cannot wait to finally receive my certificate and become a proud graduate of The University of Manchester.

What’s ahead?
I am very happy with how I am coming along with my dissertation. I put a lot of work into it in June and July and I am now starting my finishing chapters. I cannot wait for the moment when I finally get to hand in my dissertation and I am officially done with the MSc! However, the end of one chapter is also the beginning of a new chapter. I have one weekend in-between handing in my dissertation and starting my new job. I will start an international graduate trainee program and I am super excited for the opportunity. It was always my goal to get into a graduate program of a global company and get the chance to get to know the company and its departments in different countries. I believe that getting a whole, well-rounded picture of a company through a trainee program sets me up perfectly for my future career endeavours. At this point, I would like to give a big shout-out to the Careers Service that has provided me with so much valuable support over the past year. They provide everything from CV checks to mock interviews.

Thank you for reading along and for following my journey throughout the past semester. Even though I will leave Manchester soon, this city and especially University will always have a place in my heart. It was a place that not only helped me further my academic career, but also pushed me to grow as a person and I am very fortunate to have met so many wonderful people that became part of my journey.

All the best to all of you and take care!
