The weather has been surprisingly enjoyable since I’ve been in Manchester. We’ve had several warm, sunny days. However, the last few days have been cold, rainy, and windy. So, it is hard for me to believe that it is nearly the middle of June. This weather has also made me think about home a bit because this time of the year in Michigan is beautiful – everybody is enjoying the sunshine and the lakes!
With just three months to go, I’ve started to really think about my future and what I want once I finish school. I originally planned to return to the states right away and begin working. However, I would love to spend a few extra weeks in Europe and travel before heading home. Some of the places that I’d like to visit include: Belgium, Germany, Morocco, and Portugal.
I’ve also considered staying in the UK if I can secure a job. I applied at ASOS as an Assistant Buyer. The job would be based in London. If I am given the opportunity to work there, it would really be a dream come true for me! I have only applied for this job in the UK, but I plan on applying to some other companies as well. I have also applied to about fifteen jobs in the US. Although the process for applying for jobs is time-consuming and can be a little daunting, it is so important that you set aside some time each week to look for new openings and apply accordingly.
Some of my classmates have already secured jobs in other countries and will be leaving Manchester to begin working very soon. This made me realize how fast the past nine months have gone. It is also a strange feeling for me because Manchester finally feels like home. I walk around the city and I no longer feel like a stranger. I have also recently gotten to spend more time with my classmates. So, to know that some of us are leaving soon reminds me that our time as a group in Manchester is quickly coming to an end. Nonetheless, this experience has allowed me to gain genuine friendships with individuals from all over the world and I know that we will see each other again in the future.
