Happy New Year! My Winter break in Paris and Nuremberg was brilliant. I visited the famous sights in Paris such as the Eiffel tower, Louvre Museum and Notre Dame Cathedral. I also flew to Germany to visit the famous Nuremberg Christmas Markets, Rothenberg ob der Tauber where I was impressed by the medieval architecture of Europe. I found that it is as beautiful as I saw in the picture. I had a good time there and hope that I would have a chance to explore other countries in Europe during the next school break.
Now the winter break is over and I have to study for the first semester exams. I have 3 finance exams and 1 accounting exam. I spend more than 12 hours a day at the Alan Gilbert Learning Commons, which opens 24 hours daily. The Learning Commons is one of my favourite places to study as it is quiet and well equipped with modern computers, studying facilities, a café and 24-hours security.
My revision plan is to read and understand all the topics I’ve learned and then I look at past exam papers. If we do have any questions, we can post them in an online discussion board which is provided to encourage students to ask the lecturer in a way that other students could also see and get new ideas. The past exam papers are also available via the online Blackboard platform. I think these help me a lot on my exam preparation.
However, the exams will be completed by the end of January and the second semester will start the week after. The dissertation topic areas are available to select during January and we have to focus on it during the third semester. For the MSc Accounting and Finance, we can choose the dissertation topic from either an accounting or finance topic area, which is really good for those who want to focus more on the finance area. During the second semester, I plan to study the relevant literature on my topic and pay more attention to the related subjects which will help me in my dissertation.
