Second year has definitely been tougher than my first year at uni, which I am sure most of my friends would agree on. Most of May and early June has been spent in the library studying and doing as many past year papers as possible.
Beginning September I will be embarking on my industrial placement year with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), a professional services company focusing on audit and assurance, consulting and tax services. As for summer, I am looking forward to fly home, see my family, and will also be picking up part time jobs wherever possible
Originally, I applied for a placement in the field of technology. However, as PwC recruits their candidates on a first come first serve basis, I was transferred to the assurance field, whereby I will be able to focus more on risk assurance as that requires some similar skills which I have learnt. As it will only be a yearlong placement, I am not worried about the specificity of the job scope. I am mainly just thankful to be given a chance to step in the working industry and to gain first-hand experience on actual tasks. Next year, I will be moving to Sheffield which is approximately 1 hour away from Manchester, which is a just short train ride if I intend to visit friends for a weekend trip.
