A team of five MBAs – Francisco Astorne, Sandra Bishara, Guillermo Montero, Liliana Montoya and Gabriela Yarto – participated in the Bocconi International Finance Competition in Milan, Italy on 22-23 May, taking second place.

The team faced stiff competition from ten top European business schools: Bocconi, ESMT Berlin, ESADE, HEC, IESE, IE, Imperial London, LUISS, MBS and Rotterdam. In the two-stage competition, each team assessed and presented a real finance case developed by the event’s sponsor companies: Bain & Company, Edison, and Lazard.

The two finalists then worked on an additional case question and took to the stage again to present recommendations to the judges and the other Schools. Despite not taking first place this time, the MBS team was praised highly for its response to the case.

Team member Guillermo Montero, President of the MBS Banking and Finance Society, said: “The competition was a fantastic learning experience that demonstrates MBS’ strengths in finance. It was also a good opportunity to meet finance club members from other Schools, who we will invite to participate in the MBS Stock Trading Competition in autumn 2015, and to network with sponsoring companies and jury members.”
