April 2017: Spring!

Hi readers!

March is coming to an end and Easter is right around the corner  and the weather is getting better! You know spring is here when the library brings out the sun chairs in front of the learning commons. Campus also looks amazing during spring, with the flowers blooming and the clear blue skies!

There were some interesting events than happened in March and the first one was the Holi Festival! “The festival signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter, and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair broken relationships”. It was held by the Indian Society at Platt Field’s Park and this was my first time taking part in the Holi Festival. It was free for all but we had to buy our own coloured powder. The weather that day was not the best but we still decided to go for it and it was very fun with great company and great music. We will definitely return next year!

This month, I have also been in university a lot more than usual due to deadlines and I had 2 group projects due before Easter. Since I’ve been spending a lot more time in campus, I have been eating a lot in the union bar and I realised they have pretty good deals! On Mondays they have 50% off all vegetarian food (I recommend traditional nachos, it comes with guacamole, salsa and cheese for just £2!) and the breakfast menu is also great! You can get Eggs Benedict for just £4 and they taste pretty good too 🙂 It’s perfect with a cup of iced coffee from Starbucks in the SU. For dinner, we usually walk down oxford road to shops near the business school such as Archies (great burgers and shakes) and some pizzas and kebab shops or order takeaway from restaurants. Kro Bar is also a great place for food.

Last but not least, I went for my first Orchestra this month! It wasn’t anything fancy but it was performed by the music society in our university’s music building, the Martin Harris Music Centre. Student tickets were only 3 pounds my friend was playing the Tuba and I went to support and I was quite impressed with the performances. I am not a music person but I really enjoyed my time there. I was informed that they have performances all the time and I will definitely be looking out for them  My parents also arrived in Manchester on the 29th of March and I am so excited for Easter break to start and to show them around the place! We will also be going to Edinburgh for a few days next month

Till next time!
