Video: Alliance MBS and North West businesses reinvent manufacturing for high school students

Students from Whalley Range High School and Levenshulme High School for Girls enjoyed an interactive two-day workshop at Alliance Manchester Business School that involved research, group work, and presentations, as well as career and study advice from STEM industry experts.

The project, Reinventing Manufacturing – a Business in the Community initiative, was developed after statistics from an EEF Women in Manufacturing report showed that women only account for 7% of the apprenticeships in the STEM sector.

Working together in project teams the students developed solutions to manufacturing challenges set by North West based manufacturing and engineering businesses – Duo UK, Interface and Siemens. Experts from the organisations were also on hand throughout the event to offer insight into the industry.
