CBEs awarded to MBS alumni

Paul Skinner (Dip BA 1969)

Paul Skinner, Diploma in Business Administration alumnus and member of MBS’s Advisory Board, was awarded a CBE in the New Year’s Honours for services to business and infrastructure.

He is currently a non-executive director of Standard Chartered plc, of Air Liquide S.A., and of the Tetra Laval Group.  He is also a non-executive member of the Public Interest Body of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

He was Chairman of Infrastructure UK, within HM Treasury from 2009 to 2013 and oversaw the development of the UK’s National Infrastructure Plan and related policy initiatives.

He served on the Board of INSEAD Business School from 1999 to 2011.  At the invitation of the Prime Minister Paul was a UK Business Ambassador from 2008-12 and in 2009, he was awarded Outstanding Alumnus of the Year by The University of Manchester.

Robert Voss (BSc Management Sciences, 1975)

Robert Voss, the founder and managing director of metal traders Voss International received a CBE for services to British industry and voluntary services to the UK, including the mentoring of young entrepreneurs.

After graduating from MBS with a BSc Management Sciences in 1975 Robert joined Brookside Metal as a graduate trainee and became a Director of Metramet in 1980 before starting Voss International Ltd in 1987.

He has been involved in the various trade associations and was the youngest President of the British Secondary Metals Association in 1984-5 and a founder Board Member of the British Metals Recycling Association.

Robert is currently President of Eurometrec (European Metal Trade Federation) and Chairman of The International Trade Council of the Bureau of International Recycling.
