Accounting and Finance graduate awarded in Worshipful Company of International Bankers Competition

Temitope Alabi, MSc Accounting and Finance graduate from Alliance Manchester Business School has been awarded The Worshipful Company of International Bankers (WCIB) prestigious Lombard Prize.

The Lombard Prize recognises individuals that deliver exceptional and innovative research across business schools and the winner is awarded a one-year honorary membership to the WCIB, a cheque prize of £1500 and a solid silver Armada dish.

The WCIB places a high value on relationships with business schools, offering support and guidance for faculty and students alike and recognising the meritorious efforts by finance students across top business schools.

Speaking of his award win, Temitope said: “The award really is the culmination of my first class learning experience at the business school. There’s just so much support and facilities provided for students to push them to work hard and prepare them for the real world.”

Temitope was awarded the Worshipful Company of International Bankers’ prize for the best MSc dissertation at Alliance MBS in 2016 by our Accounting and Finance division, which qualified him for the national competition.

Following the award win Temitope will attend the Annual Banquet which is a prestigious event in the City calendar and is attended by the Lord Mayor, senior figures within the City of London, among other VIPs from the UK and international financial services.

Temitope said: “I am really glad I made the choice to study at Alliance Manchester Business School. It is such a big honour to receive this year’s Lombard Prize. While it has been a challenging journey I am very excited and proud that my work was recognised.

This success however isn’t just mine, but also that of the Business School and its teachers, with special mention of my dissertation supervisor, Dr Omiros Georgiou.

I’d also like to thank my wonderful parents, friends and classmates who really inspired me to put in my best this year.”
