We are delighted to announce that Alison Rodwell has been appointed to the Alliance Manchester Business School Advisory Board.
Alison is currently the Director of Impact the Future Ltd, which works to promote good governance, and a Non-Executive Director at Sellafield in the nuclear industry, both based in the North West.
On her appointment, Alison said "I am delighted to be joining the Advisory Board of Alliance Manchester Business School in its 60th Anniversary year. I look forward to working together with Professor Ken McPhail and the Board as AMBS continues to evolve to meet the challenges of the future.”
Career history
Alison's career spans the private, public, and charity sectors including senior roles in finance and governance in the energy industry, and founding an award-winning start-up focused on sustainable cotton production. After studying Physics at Cambridge, Alison joined Shell, first training as an accountant and then leading as a finance manager on billion-dollar energy projects abroad. She then specialised in good governance, making sure our companies are well led and well managed.
Alison was an early advocate for sustainability, focusing on a triple bottom line approach of social, environmental, and financial sustainability. This led her to found CottonConnect which works with over half a million farmers around the world, bringing innovation to the sector.
More recently, Alison has held a portfolio of board and audit committee chair roles in the public sector, using her skills from business and finance to bring challenge, change and independent scrutiny to our vital public services. She has held non-executive positions at two government departments including Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, at Sellafield and the Royal Stoke, a large acute NHS Hospital Trust. Alison is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a regular conference speaker. She also volunteers as a STEM Ambassador at Jodrell Bank.
Advisory Board
The AMBS Advisory Board, which is chaired by Kenneth Lever, advises the School's leadership team on the development of the School's strategy. It supports with the development of corporate, institutional and governmental links and offers an external perspective on the School's products and services.
