Congratulations to MBS’ Professor Frank Geels and Dr Gill Harvey who have been selected by Thomson Reuters in its prestigious list of Highly Cited Researchers 2014.

The list identifies the world’s most influential contemporary researchers across 21 scientific fields. This year’s list, which includes 3200 researchers, is more selective than the previous list from 2001, which included more than 7000 researchers.

The ranking is based on highly cited papers (HCP) in the 2002-2012 period. Highly cited papers are defined as those that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and year indexed in the Web of Science. Many scholars on the list (including Frank and Gill) have more than one HCP, which according to Thomson Reuters represents “a mark of exceptional impact”.

Frank has been identified as highly cited researcher in the ‘economics and business’ field, as one of only five UK researchers; while Gill is highlighted in the ‘social sciences’ category among 18 UK researchers.
