My time studying my Master’s programme is coming to an end, as is my chance to share my experience with you. In this last blog post, I would like to summarise some of the things I’ve learnt and enjoyed the most throughout this wonderful journey.
If I could go back in time, one thing I would tell myself is to worry less! I had many anxious nights overthinking about having to move to Manchester alone as I did not know anyone there, and often second guessed my own decision. However, right now, I can safely say that it is the best choice I could have made in terms of education and life experience. I can’t deny that my initial intention was to quickly finish the programme and head back home but now I wish I had more time to spend with my friends and course mates at Alliance MBS.
The most significant takeaway I’ve had from the past year is definitely the friendships and connections I have made. I have learnt so much from interacting with people from different parts of the world and it has provided me with a more worldly perspective, and I have had tremendous fun learning about different cultures. There is a diverse group of people in Manchester and most students are open-minded about embracing other cultures, keen to immerse themselves in a different cultural experience. For example, my course mates and I frequently have dinners at one another’s accommodation where we share home cooked meals and stories from our respective countries. I believe that you will meet like-minded individuals in the course of your education and these shared experiences will definitely make the friendships you forge last a lifetime!
I have also thoroughly enjoyed the quality of education provided by Alliance MBS. The lecturers treat us akin to their colleagues and it greatly stimulates our thinking when everyone genuinely wants to learn. I will sorely miss the lively debates we have in class, listening to everyone share their different experiences civilly and respectfully.
Last but not least, travel! Manchester is surrounded by so many wonderful cities and beautiful European countries that are just a short plane journey away. I cannot imagine a more ideal location to study in. Be it a short getaway or a summer holiday, there are dozens of destinations to choose from.
If anyone were to ask for my (unbiased) advice, I’d definitely say that The University of Manchester is a great choice for education, and once you’re there, make the most out of it as I guarantee it will be some of the best times in your life!
