Digital innovation and health technologies

The global healthcare sector is being revolutionised by data and digital innovation, with the use of cutting-edge technologies such as AI already transforming the industry and the wider patient experience.

At this Vital Topics debate we will bring together healthcare professionals, investors and academics to discuss the huge opportunities that this accelerating digital transformation is already reaping, while also considering the many challenges that such innovation also brings.

Stephen graduated in Pharmacy from The University of Manchester and went on to study Pharmacokinetics, also at Manchester. For over 5 years he lectured and was a tutor for MSc students, something he still enjoys today.

Working in the NHS until 1997 he used the skills he had learned to write software in his NHS work. He then founded Ascribe which delivered clinical pharmacy software across the UK and in Australia, Hong Kong and Malaysia. Employing over 300 people with 75% of hospital pharmacies using the software he floated on the LSE on 2004, he sold it in 2014.

In 2015 he established Evergreen Life as part of his social impact group to enable people to own their health records giving a complete record for their health and research. With over 3 million users the data is being used to drive improved digital therapeutics and diagnostics working with 25 Universities, Pharma and the NHS in areas from improved primary care workflow to Cancer. He recently chaired the NIHR “AI in healthcare” board.
