The assistance of the Careers Service

The business school, apart from providing prestigious education and worthwhile experience, offers the students a diverse range of skills development and professional mentorships.

AMBS has its own Post Graduate Careers Team to support and guide the PG students during term time and post-study period.

The Careers team has its own chat box support, that aims to answer queries and doubts. They provide services such as one-to-one meetings for the students to assist them with job search, making CV and cover letters, and mock interview sessions. These personal sessions need to be booked in advance and are usually 30 minutes long.

Apart from this, the PG careers team has an online portal providing us with a range of options to make CVs, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, and professional portfolios to target the desired set of jobs. There is an online AI system to rate and grade our CVs and Cover letters that highlights the key areas of focus and amendments required.

Along with that throughout the term time, the PG careers conducts workshops, sessions, and corporate informative sessions to give insight to the students on how to excel in their hustle for the job applications. I attended their cover letter workshop, during semester 1 and was very satisfied with the learnings and takeaway of the workshop. The idea behind writing a cover letter, structuring it gracefully, and expressing its purpose was explained in a very constructive manner by Joanna and Kristy.

However, the PG careers team is not restricted to helping us out with job applications within the UK, but also around the Globe. There is also a dedicated team for careers support in UoM and AMBS for Pakistani International students. The team has also conducted workshops, to guide the students with issues related to Immigration Route Visas (PSW), they have their own portal where jobs based in Pakistan and other Asian countries are posted.

Nevertheless, these career support facilities are not only limited to on-campus students but also for remote students as well. The guidance and assistance are there for everyone to cash in the opportunity and kick off their professional career paths soon after completing their PG degree.

Also, there is a centre for Entrepreneurship (Masood Entrepreneurship Centre) for students for guidance and support. The platform provides all the necessary framework and assistance and incubation support for future entrepreneurs and leaders of the innovative world. Since I have not been a part of this community as yet, but have heard a lot about their work and innovation sustenance.
