With our summer open days taking place in June, we're sharing some helpful tips and tricks to ensure that you experience an open day at The University of Manchester to its fullest.
We run four open days throughout the year: two in the summer and two in autumn. Open day events involve:
- Subject talks to give you an in depth look at what to expect from your course
- Information desks where admissions staff provide application advice
- The chance to speak to current students, giving a real insight into life as a student at AMBS.
1. Visit a subject talk
All our subject talks are delivered by a programme director and are designed to give you an understanding of the course structure and outcomes.
Are you still unsure of which subject you'd like to study? You could start your day with our 'Which degree is right for me?' talk.
This session delves into Alliance Manchester Business School in more depth and walks you through our course offerings. This is the perfect opportunity to learn more about available options, especially if you're at the beginning of the decision-making process or unsure between courses.
2. Speak to our student ambassadors
Nobody knows the programme better than the students themselves – besides our academics, of course!
After attending a subject talk, having a chat with our helpful student ambassadors is a great chance to ask any questions that you have, whether it's about the course or to understand student life. It's also a good way to resolve any concerns you may have about starting your undergraduate studies.
3. Take a campus tour
Our student ambassadors also provide tours of the Business School as part of our open day activities.
These are a brilliant way to get a feel for our outstanding facilities, endless study spaces and familiarise yourself with your surroundings before starting as a student.
4. See the rest of the University
Attending a Business School talk shouldn't mean missing out on experiencing the rest of The University of Manchester. Our building is only a short walk from:
- The iconic Whitworth Hall building
- Brunswick Park
- The Students' Union
- The main library.
There's also a range of other buildings that you'll regularly visit during your time here as a student.
There's a variety of activities taking place across our campus that you shouldn't miss! Whether you attend an accommodation or student experience talk, take a campus tour or simply familiarise yourself with the surroundings, we recommend taking full advantage of the opportunities available during our open days.
5. Explore the city of Manchester
Whilst you're here, why not walk down Oxford Road into Manchester?
Our proximity to the city centre means that if you're not local to Manchester, or don't get to visit very often, you can get two for the price of one. Explore the beautiful campus and find out what's on offer just on our doorstep.

6. Start picturing life as a student here
Most importantly, our open days are one step closer to starting as a student at The University of Manchester.
Whether you're starting your university decision journey, ready to submit your application to us, or it's one last visit to the campus before you start here – open days are a great way to see the campus come to life and gather all the information you need to make the best of your time at The University of Manchester.
