How long does a master's degree take to complete?
A master's degree at Alliance Manchester Business School is studied over 12 months from September to August. The taught element of most of our master's degrees is from September to May and you will complete a dissertation or project from May to August.
What is a master's degree (UK)?
A master's degree is a postgraduate academic qualification taken by students who have usually completed an undergraduate bachelor’s degree.
What are master's degree grades?
When you complete a master's degree at Alliance Manchester Business School you will be awarded with one of the following grades:
- 70% and above: distinction - a very good, well above average performance
- 60%: merit - a good, sound performance
- 50%: pass - an adequate performance
- Below 50%: fail
How to get a master's degree?
To register for a master's degree at Alliance Manchester Business School you must have completed an undergraduate bachelor's degree and satisfied all other entry requirements relating to previous study and English language ability.
To be awarded a master's degree you must satisfactorily complete the required programme of study with an overall grade of 50% or above.

How many credits for a master's degree?
Our master's degrees require you to study a number of units and complete a dissertation or project totalling 180 credits.
