Bright Ideas student ideas competition
Bright Ideas (formerly Venture Out) is Masood Entrepreneurship Centre’s annual student ideas competition where you have the opportunity to get your hands on a cash prize to help take your idea forward. If you have an idea for a new business, a social project, the application of technology, or something completely different - we want to know about it.
There are 10 prizes of £200 up for grabs!
Bright Ideas will open for entries on Monday 28 September 2020.
At the Masood Entrepreneurship Centre, we believe that anyone can have a bright idea and those bright ideas can come from anywhere, regardless of background. If you’re an undergraduate or postgraduate student here at The University of Manchester and have an idea – no matter how big or small - then you could get your hands on a £200 cash prize!
Last year we received a high number of entries covering all sorts of topics, from addressing the challenges associated with amateur film-making by creating a digital platform using Augmented Reality, to an environmental project aimed to reduce the impact of fast-fashion by rebranding the concept of second-hand garments as something on-trend.
The idea you enter is limited only by your imagination.
How to enter
The entry process is really simple:
- Take a look at the 5 categories listed below and see where your idea fits best. If you’re still a little unsure, have a read about last year’s winners.
- Complete this short form, outlining your idea in no more than 500 words. You may find it useful to write up your idea in a word document first, and then copy and paste into the online form.
- Pencil the evening of Tuesday, 3 December into your diaries; winners will be announced at the Masood Enterprise Centre.
All entries will automatically be entered into a draw to win 1 of 20 x £20 Amazon vouchers.
The 2019 winners were announced at an awards ceremony at the University in December.
