Professor Sir Cary Cooper has been announced as first Honorary Member of the UK Employee Assistance Professionals Association at the 2016 Annual General Meeting.

“The UK EAPA is very proud to make Professor Sir Cooper our first Honorary Member. He has been a strong advocate for mental health awareness for many years, leading research and policy creation in this area, and working extensively to support campaigns to enhance wellbeing in the workplace. We are pleased to welcome him to the Association and make this special membership award and we look forward to working with him to raise the profile of employee assistance and wellbeing issues in the future,” said Andrew Kinder, Chair of the UK EAPA.

Professor Cooper is Alliance Manchester Business School’s 50th Anniversary Professor of Organisational Psychology and Health, president of the CIPD and was recently names as HR’s most influential thinker.

He said: “I am very proud to have been honoured in this way. Mental ill health at work is costing UK companies billions,  so anything I can do to help through counselling and other employee support services, I will.”

Special membership awards are made at the discretion of the UK EAPA Board and honour the work of nominees in the field of employee assistance and wellbeing.
