Why did you choose to study this Masters course at Alliance Manchester Business School?
Since my Bachelor Degree in Psychology focused on Organisational Psychology, I have been interested in Human Resources. I genuinely believe that people are the best asset of a company and thanks to HR professionals work, firms improve in commitment, people well being and productivity. After analysing several Master programs from different universities, I decided to apply for this one because It provides me with a global vision of HR not just in terms of human resources management but also in terms of employment relations comparing countries such as The United States, Japan, The United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden and France. This broad vision across countries was the most appealing characteristic of the program. Besides, Alliance Manchester Business School is in the global top 26th for business and economic. As a result, its master characteristic and worldwide reputation made this master and University the best option for my academic and professional development.
What were you doing before your MSc?
I graduated in Psychology from Aut�noma de Madrid University. Then I worked for almost two years as a Human Resources Consultant and Talent and Development Human Resources Analyst. Nevertheless, to change my professional path and gain an international career I moved to the US for two years. I dedicated my time improving my communication skills in English as well as keeping my HR activities volunteering and motivating young people to draw action plans for employment, education and training and supporting them in achieving these goals.
What are your careers plans after graduation?
I want to work for a Multinational Company in The United States, in Europe or Japan which vision focuses on create impact in people lives. I aspire to develop and implement innovative initiatives regarding diversity, employment commitment and performance appraisals. Among all of that, in a long-term, I want to become an HR team manager focus on aligning business goals with employees and management. And why not? Wind people minds and hearts.
What is the best thing about studying at Alliance MBS?
The people, everyone walks towards the same goal: develop the most prepared professionals. I have to highlight the career services; its career consultants are helping me dedicatedly in every single step of the recruitment processes that I am currently involved.
How much time do you spend in classes and in private study?
I spend an average of 15 hours in class and concerning private study I tried to dedicate 3 hours every single day and 4 hours each day of the weekend, so a total of 23 hours of private study per week. It is a pretty intense Master, which requires a lot of independent study.
How would you describe your student experience so far?
The best word to describe my student experience is incredible because I am surrounded by people from all over the world with different backgrounds, which enriches my personal and academic experience. Besides, I have gained confident speaking in front of an audience in a different language than my mother tone; I have kept developing my leadership and result-oriented skills. Hence, this experience is fulfilling all my expectations and even it goes beyond them.
What’s the best thing about living in Manchester?
Manchester is a vibrant city. The best thing is its history and music atmosphere. There are plenty of plans to enjoy the weekends. Besides, people are friendly and open mind; you can make friends easily.
What advice would you give to those considering studying at Alliance MBS?
My advice would be: if your philosophy is work hard, play hard; Alliance MBS is your place. Of course, everything is not just related to studies; Alliance MBS provides with a lot of social opportunities through student unions concerning sports, dance, trips and languages. Without any doubts, Alliance MBS can make you experience the best year of your life. I can attest that currently, this is the best year for me.
What was your experience like on the Brathay residential trip?
It was an excellent experience. I had the chance to connect more with students from my master and also to network with students from MSc Business Analytics. I learn which role came up naturally on me when I am working in a group and most importantly, the critical points of collaborating with a diverse team, with people from different cultures. The environment was gorgeous and the staff engaged with us in every single sense. I recommend everyone to attend. I would do it if I had the chance again.
