Why did you choose to study this Masters course at Alliance MBS?

The Business Analytics course seemed like the most appealing course relative to my interests and future ambitions. It gives me the opportunity to get involved with practical material through using software tools and analytical methodologies, as well as to choose units from a wide range of options which can lead me to my chosen career direction. Also, studying at a globally recognised institution of high ranking is a great honour and challenge.

What were you doing before your MSc?

Prior to my arrival in Manchester, I worked as a Junior Administrator at a software company in Greece. It was there that I discovered my inclination towards exploring and analysing data in order to reach successful decisions that could positively affect the function of an organisation.

What are your career plans after graduation?

I strongly believe that the qualifications and the skillset that I will have acquired by the end of my Masters course will serve as a passport to a career as an analyst and, later, as a freelance consultant.

What is the best thing about studying at Alliance MBS?

Aside from the fact that I am studying in one of the most prestigious universities in the world, for me the chance to meet with people from different cultural backgrounds is unique and priceless. It allows me not only to expand my horizons but also to make some true friends.

How much time do you spend in classes and in private study?

A total of 12 hours is spent in classes (3 hours/per unit) but you need to devote twice as much for private study. The one-year course is quite intense and a balance between social life and studying, as well as good time-management are essential.

How would you describe your student experience so far?

I can say that I am really enjoying my time here. Despite the intensity of the course, I already feel like I‘ve been living here forever, in no small part because of the friendly demeanour of my fellow students and my professors. The warm welcome by the University combined with the friends I‘ve made so far don’t let me feel alone or like a stranger.

What’s the best thing about living in Manchester?

Manchester is deservedly one the most popular student-oriented cities. Its lively atmosphere with a variety of events taking place all around the city every week will never make you feel alone or down in the dumps. Not to mention the more than affordable cost of living.

What advice would you give to those considering studying at Alliance MBS?

If you are uncertain whether Alliance MBS is the best choice for you, I would advise you to set aside your second thoughts and just dare to take the big decision. You can be sure that you will never regret it. The plethora of choices will satisfy even the most demanding.

What was your experience of the Brathay residential session?

The trip to Brathay at the head of Lake Windermere was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It was a great opportunity to build effective relationships in a multi-cultural environment through a variety of outdoor activities while having fun and enjoying the breath-taking landscape. Even if you feel lonely and haven’t made friends by then, the activities on offer are the ideal way to break the ice and to help you interact with other students from your class or other disciplines.
