Why did you choose to study this Masters course at Alliance Manchester Business School?
I decided to choose my Masters course at Alliance MBS, due to the prestige of attending one of the UK and world’s leading business schools. The institution is widely recognised for developing high calibre business leaders of tomorrow. Many of my peers who have experienced the quality of education merit the institution. More specifically, I felt the choice of course modules offered would substantially evolve my understanding of global business, whilst developing my ability to undertake international entrepreneurship and manage across cultures.
What were you doing before your MSc?
I was undertaking my undergraduate degree in Business and Management at Manchester Metropolitan University. The degree enhanced my knowledge and understanding of business in all areas. Hence, my decision to progress onto my Masters course at the Alliance MBS was the logical next step.
What are your career plans after graduation?
Whilst at this stage I do not have any concrete plans, I do have numerous opportunities available. The opportunities range from undertaking a PHD to securing a graduate scheme or a voluntary business placement abroad. I feel undertaking the Masters course at Alliance MBS has opened up these opportunities. Nevertheless, I have confidence the University Careers Service will aid me to select the right opportunity; whilst the course continues to increase my employability prospects.
What is the best thing about studying at Alliance MBS?
There are a multitude of reasons as to why studying at Alliance MBS is the best. On an academic level, the course brings out the best in you. You are pushed to be an independent and critical thinker, whilst learning how to work with others and devise industry-focused solutions. As for the social side, you get to interact with a diverse range of peers who ultimately enrich your mind-set.
How much time do you spend in classes and in private study?
On a weekly basis, I spend a maximum of 8 hours in lectures and between 4-6 hours in
Seminars. The times are spread evenly throughout the week, as I am in most days with the exception of one. In regards to private study my times do vary and thus difficult to quantify. However on a weekly basis I review the content covered in classes and read essential literature. In the build up to assessments I dedicate a lot of my time to studies, whilst this can be challenging it is worth it in the end.
How would you describe your student experience so far?
My student experience so far at Alliance MBS has been amazing. I do not regret my choice of studying at the institution. Through the course and opportunity to interact with diverse peers, I have grown as a person and the experiences will stay with me for life.
What’s the best thing about living in Manchester?
The best thing about Manchester is the opportunity to live in a cosmopolitan city, which always has something to see and do. I particularly enjoy trying the diverse range of restaurants and bars and attending music concerts performed by world class artists in the city. Moreover, being the UK’s most popular student city, Manchester has a thriving student community which offers affordable living and recreational activities appealing to everyone.
What advice would you give to those considering studying at Alliance MBS?
The advice I would give is be prepared to dedicate to your studies, to get the most value out of studying at Alliance MBS. The institution is known for its high standards, but be rest assured you will be provided with excellent support from Academic staff who are knowledgeable in their respective fields.
What was your experience like on the Brathay residential trip?
Based on my positive experience, I recommend students to attend the Brathay trip. The trip provided me with the key opportunity to ‘break the ice’ and get to know my future classmates through a relaxed setting. This is particularly useful as the trip takes place during induction week.
