MSc Business Analytics: Operational Research and Risk Analysis. Class of 2019

Why did you choose to study this Masters course at Alliance Manchester Business School?
Besides the good reputation of the school itself, the AMBS Business Analytics course is highly ranked. Furthermore, the course units with a mixture of theory and practical, software-oriented contents convinced me.

What were you doing before your MSc?
I completed my bachelor (Industrial Engineering and Business Management) in a dual system. This included shorter semesters and multiple placements in the company, where I worked fulltime whenever there was no semester.

What are your career plans after graduation?
I will continue to work for a multinational civil aircraft manufacturer.

What is the best thing about studying at Alliance MBS?
As an AMBS student you have full access to a large amount of resources of both, the AMBS and the UoM. This includes the career services, events, talks, learning facilities, etc.

How much time do you spend in classes and in private study?
The timetable includes 13 h/week of classes. In addition, I spent around 30 h/week for private study which extends during periods of course works.

How would you describe your student experience so far?
From the first second when I moved to Manchester, it was never boring. Joining such an international university results in many new friends from all over the world. And instead of asking myself what to do, it was hard to decide what not to do. Time is for sure the scarcest good, as the university with all its services, societies and events offers more activities than you can attend. Consequently, there is no such thing as the typical student experience, there is just a vast amount of opportunities and this is what I enjoy every single day.

What’s the best thing about living in Manchester?
Big city life for students. While Manchester offers the typical advantages of a bigger city like culture and infrastructure, the large student population ensures that there is everything you need as a student. Sports, music, food, pubs, clubs

What advice would you give to those considering studying at Alliance MBS?
Always consider the overall picture. What is important for you to live and learn? Course content, university facilities, available resources, fellow students, accommodation, leisure activitiesthat all adds up to your experience. For me AMBS offered the perfect bundle.

What was your experience like on the Brathay residential trip?
Brathay is a fantastical opportunity to meet your class mates and make new friends. I can only recommend participating as it perfectly combines team building, networking and outdoor adventures.
